THE ORGANIZER is a portrait of Wade Rathke, the controversial founder of ACORN, as well as an exploration of the much maligned and misunderstood occupation of community organizing.
Director Biography - Nick Taylor
Born and raised in England, Nick moved to Montreal with his family as a teenager. He studied at Dawson College, Montreal and at Carleton University, Ottawa (B.A. English/Film Studies '98) before moving to Toronto. He spent a decade as a musician while also working as a CBC archivist, cook, ESL teacher and technical writer before getting involved in film and tv post production. He now works mostly as an editor specializing in documentary film and information television. He recently edited Brian D. Johnson's award-winning feature doc Al Purdy Was Here and has cut over 100 hours of broadcast television and been nominated for Gemini and Canadian Screen Awards for his work. Since 2011 he has been working on his debut feature documentary as a director; THE ORGANIZER, about controversial ACORN founder and labor organizer Wade Rathke. The film is currently in post-production.
