Nominate a Jury Member for the 18th Annual Bushwick Film Festival

We are excited to invite you to nominate experienced professionals to join our esteemed jury for the 18th Annual Bushwick Film Festival! Jury members hold one of the most prestigious positions at the festival and must meet the following criteria:

1. Significant Industry Experience

Minimum: 5+ years of professional work in the film/TV industry, or equivalent in film criticism, festival programming, or academia.

Eligible Roles Include:

  • Filmmakers (writer, director, or producer) with at least one feature-length or two short films officially selected at a reputable festival (Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW, TIFF, BFI, or similar tier, including BFF).

  • Producers or Executives with credits on theatrically released films, distributed documentaries, or network/streaming series.

  • Distributors or Sales Agents with a proven track record in acquisitions or releases in the independent film market.

  • Film Critics/Journalists published in recognized outlets (Variety, IndieWire, Hollywood Reporter, major newspapers, etc.).

  • Festival Directors/Programmers from other established film festivals.

  • Academics specializing in film/media studies at an accredited institution.

2. Recognition & Credibility May include:

  • Awards or nominations from major guilds, academies, or reputable film festivals.

  • Industry memberships such as SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, PGA, ASC, or BAFTA.

  • Proven history of mentoring, judging, or speaking at industry events.

3. Integrity & Impartiality

  • Strong reputation for fair and unbiased judgment.

  • No direct personal or financial interest in any films within the assigned category (conflict of interest rules apply).

4. Preferred Jury Background

  • Prior experience serving on a festival jury (regional, national, or international).

  • Demonstrated history of supporting and elevating independent filmmakers.

5. Commitment to Artistic Excellence

  • A track record of engagement with films that demonstrate innovation, social impact, or exceptional storytelling.

  • Understanding of both creative and technical aspects of filmmaking, including but not limited to writing, directing, cinematography, editing, sound, and performance.
