Netflix returns as Opening Night sponsor of the 19th Annual Bushwick Film Festival, continuing its support of one of Brooklyn's signature cultural events for independent storytellers and the creative community. The Oct. 7 celebration launches five days of screenings, conversations, and special events.

The Bushwick Film Festival returns October 7–11, 2026, with the theme Make Time for Your Dreams. This year’s edition celebrates the time, courage, and commitment required to bring meaningful ideas to life, while honoring filmmakers and artists who continue creating despite demanding schedules, uncertainty, and everyday responsibilities throughout the year.

The Bushwick Film Festival partners with award-winning animator and director Peter Ahern to expand animation programming for its 19th edition. Ahern, whose credits include Disney’s Moana, Netflix’s Entergalactic, and the Academy Award-qualifying short Buzzkill, will serve on the inaugural Animation Jury and create original artwork for the festival this year.
