In 2022, I brought the Bushwick Film Festival back fully in person after years of virtual and hybrid programming, marking an exciting return to shared cinematic experiences. The 15th annual festival featured over 100 independent films, live screenings, panels, and special events that continued our commitment to amplifying diverse voices and creating meaningful connections through storytelling.

In 2021, the Bushwick Film Festival hosted the East Coast premiere of 18th & Grand: The Olympic Auditorium Story as part of its 14th annual hybrid festival. Under my leadership, the festival spotlighted bold independent films from around the world, creating a platform for emerging and established filmmakers to share culturally rich and socially relevant stories with diverse audiences.

The Bushwick Film Festival returned in 2021 with a hybrid model, combining in-person screenings and virtual events after going fully online during the pandemic. Founded by Kweighbaye Kotee in 2007, the festival continued expanding globally, drawing thousands of attendees while embracing new technology, virtual networking, and broader industry access for filmmakers.
The Bushwick Film Festival: Back on the big screen this weekend
The 14th annual Bushwick Film Festival returned in 2021 with nearly 140 films from 27 countries, blending virtual and in-person screenings after the pandemic. Founded by Kweighbaye Kotee, the festival continued championing underrepresented filmmakers, community storytelling, and industry access while expanding into screenplays, NFTs, and year-round programming through the Bushwick Film Institute.
